1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe
“The 1940 model year must rank at or near the top among hot rodders and restorers. Today, you may very well see several of the 1940 Ford Coupes at auto shows with a good number of them modified into hot rods. The hot rodding with the 1940 Ford Coupe took off after World War Two.” – Auto Museum Online
According to documentation this 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe was built into a street rod approximately 12 years ago and has been maintained in particularly good condition. The builder utilized a 1953 Desoto Hemi motor which was disassembled, the heads and block were decked, and the cam cavity was lined bored. The motor was bored thirty over and a mild cam was added. The motor is mated to a Torqueflite 727 automatic transmission ending with a GM 10 bolt posi-traction rear end. Cooling of the engine is provided by an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. For handling and ease of driving four-wheel power disc brakes, power steering and a TCI Mustang II independent front suspension was added during the build process.
The custom leather interior with front bucket seats, tilting billet steering column and new gages shows very well and is accented by the maroon metallic paint.
The maroon metallic paint has great shine and depth with a hint of pearl. Looking at the rear of the car you will find a shaved trunk handle, frenched tail lights and license plate.
This 1940 Ford street rod has the old nostalgia look with many modern features. Be the standout at any car show while genuinely enjoying the ride to get there.
