1969 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible
This incredibly special 1969 Chevrolet Monza was just consigned from a private collection.
One of only 521 convertibles produced in the final year of Corvair production, this Corvair presents in very original condition.
Sold new at H&H Chevrolet-Geo in Omaha Nebraska, there is believed to have been only two previous owners from the current owner.
This car appears to have been special ordered with many available options including:
164 Turbo-Air 140 Horsepower 4 carburetor engine, four speed transmission, power top, AM/FM radio, factory floor mats, bumper guards, and wire wheel covers, plus rare Fathom Green factory paint.
The odometer reads 47,489 miles and by the condition of the interior, rugs, and original convertible top it appears to be the correct milage.
The interior shows well, and the body appears rust free with dings and scratches as would be expected from a car that is 53-year-old.
The paint looks good at fifteen feet but on close inspection has fading in areas and spider webbing mostly on the hood as to be expected on original surviving paint.
If you are looking for perfect paint, this car is not for you.
Receipts show this car was completely gone through after being in storage for many years from the second owner of 30 years. Made to run as new with upgrades such as high torque starter, electric fuel pump and electronic ignition, all weak points on stock Corvairs.
Comes with owner's manual, original dealer brochures, “Nader" Nebraska license plate, “ONLY 521” front plate, original key fob, two sets of original keys, and a copy of the book "Unsafe at Any Speed” by Ralph Nader.
This car was invited as a feature car at the prestigious Boston Cup classic car show and was displayed at the Museum of Transportation at Larz Anderson.
A great fully serviced car to drive, to show, or as a historic addition to any collection. Jay Leno has three Corvairs in his collection and in his video calls the Corvair “One of the most fabulous American cars”
